Part 0202 - Moment Zero Physics

ARGUMENT 0202-07

PRECEDENTS
PARAMETERS
  • Consider that the Universe began at Moment Zero.
  • Consider that the content of the Universe, its gravitons, its energy, and the area of space it occupies, are eternal.
  • Consider that time moves forward eternally.
REASONING
  • Because the content of the Universe is eternal, it existed before the Universe began.
  • Because time moves forward eternally, it was doing so before Moment Zero.
  • Because the Universe began at Moment Zero it is not eternal.
CONCLUSION
  • That the Universe is not eternal.

COMMENTARY

Because the content of the Universe existed before Moment Zero, and because it had gravity, it is reasonable to suppose that some sort of structure existed before Moment Zero. It is also reasonable to suppose that the structure, on the large scale at least, was much the same as that of our present Universe. In this light, the period since Moment Zero could be interpreted as being just one phase in the Universe's much longer existence, raising the possibility that the Universe could be an eternally happening succession of phases. In the Current Paradigm, with its view of the Universe as a "closed cycle", that wouldn't be out of place. In the Malta Template, however, wedded as it must be to the facts as we currently know them, such conjectures are not allowed and so, as far as the Template is concerned, the Universe began at Moment Zero.
